Drive-Thru Food Distribution Event by Second Harvest and Action Pathways, March 18, 2023
On March 18, 2023, Se cond Harvest Food Bank, presented by Action Pathways, will be hosting a drive-thru food distribution event at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church on 1217 Murchison Rd in Fayetteville, NC. The distribution will run from 9 am to 12 pm and is first-come, first-served until the food runs out. Fayetteville Stingers Basketball Opens 2023 Season at Crown Arena
Fayetteville, N.C. — The Fayetteville Stingers kicked off their inaugural season with a bang as they celebrated their home opener at the Crown Complex Arena on Friday, March 10. The team took on the Central Florida Force in front of an enthusiastic crowd of fans, who were treated to a night of basketball action and entertainment.
The event was a festive occasion that included a meet & greet with the Stingers players, raffle giveaways, and a halftime performance by the Stingers dance team. Local county commissioners were also in attendance, celebrating the launch of the team and showing their support for this exciting new addition to the community.
This home opener followed the Stingers’ debut game on March 3 against the Raleigh Firebirds, with the team now embarking on a 27-game regular season that includes 12 home dates. The Stingers are a professional developmen t team based in Fayetteville, NC, and part of TBL, The Basketball League.
The league, now in its fifth season, started with eight teams and has grown to 55, including 22 in the Eastern Conference where the Stingers will play. Fayetteville is the third team from North Carolina in the league, joining Raleigh and Charlotte (Purple Jackets).
Stingers General Manager Raymond Phillips stated that about 90% of the players on the team are expected to come from Cumberland County. Head coach Robert Brickey, a former Duke standout and local E.E. Smith High School alumni, emphasized the importance of being active in the community and creating a family-friendly environment for fans to come out and have fun with their kids.
Single-game tickets and season tickets are now on sale through Ticketmaster and the Fayetteville Stingers website. Single-game tickets for the upper and lower levels are $15 and $20, respectively, while courtside back and front tickets are $85 and $100. Season tickets are available for $350 to $960 courtside.
Fans can expect an exciting lineup of games as the Stingers host matchups against Raleigh and Central Florida, as well as the Gulf Coast Lions, Charlotte Purple Jackets, Coastal Georgia Buccaneers, and the Georgia Soul.

Jam and Feast at R&B Fest (Ribs & Beer) in Fayetteville NC on May 29, 2023
The inaugural R&B Fest (Ribs and Beer) is set to take place at the picturesque Sweet Valley Ranch, offering a full day of entertainment, food, and fun for people of all ages. The festival will feature a rib cook-off competition, craft vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment from local artists.
Admission to the event is free, but a $10 donation is required to enjoy a plate of delicious BBQ ribs or chicken with all the fixings. This is a great opportunity for foodies to sample some of the best BBQ in the region and support a worthy cause.
The organizers of the festival aim to honor fallen military heroes and raise funds for local charities, including the Marius Maximus Foundation. By attending the festival, you can enjoy a great day out while also supporting a good cause.

US Army Honors Top Narcotics Military Working Dogs at Fort Bragg, NC
FORT BRAGG, N.C. – Two members of the 550th Military Working Dog Detachment, 16th Military Police Brigade, were recently honored for their exceptional service in keeping military bases and personnel safe from criminal activity. U.S. Army Col. Jody Brown, the commander of Public Health Command Atlantic, presented Cpl. Nathaniel Hudson and MWD Gert with an Army Commendation Medal for winning the best Narcotics MWD award at the Military Working Dog Handler Competition.
The competition, held on Fort Bragg, tested the skills of both handlers and their dogs in various situations, with a focus on detecting and deterring drug trafficking. Hudson and Gert’s outstanding performance earned them recogniti on as the best Narcotics MWD team in the competition.
Narcotics dogs play an important role in maintaining the safety of military installations and personnel. They are highly trained to detect illegal drugs and other illicit substances, preventing them from being brought onto military bases and used by service members or civilians. The work of these teams helps to deter criminal activity and maintain the security of our military facilities.
The Army Commendation Medal is awarded to soldiers for exceptional service or achievement, and Cpl. Hudson and MWD Gert’s accomplishment is a testament to their dedication and skill in their roles. Their commitment to keeping their fellow service members safe is greatly appreciated and recognized by their fellow soldiers and leadership.
FORSCOM Commander Presents Safety Awards to Outstanding Individuals and Units
FORSCOM Commander presents safety awards for contributions to risk mitigation and accident prevention.
Fort Bragg, N.C. – On March 9, 2023, General Andrew P. Poppas, Forscom Commander, presented safety awards to individuals for their accomplishments in mitigating risk, accident prevention, implementing hazard control measures, and achieving success in safety programs. The awards ceremony recognized the most significant contributions to safety within the command.
Every year, FORSCOM G1 accepts and reviews Unit and Individual Safety Award Nominations with an objective panel consisting of Safety Directors and Program Managers throughout the Command. The panel selects winners of the Army Exceptional Organization Safety Award (AEOSA / 0-5 through 0-9 Level Commands) and the Army Individual Award for Excellence in Safety (AIAES) by category.
This year’s nominees for the fiscal year 2022 competed against peer organizations and represented the most outstanding FORSCOM organizations and individuals in Safety. The awards ceremony celebrated their achievements and dedication to making the command a safer place for all.
