Fayetteville, NC — Methodist University has named Brock White as the new director of the PGA Golf Management (PGM) Program. The PGM program at Methodist University is one of only 17 such programs in the United States and has boasted a 100% job-placement rate since it was established in 1986.
White, a 2007 graduate of the PGM program, has extensive experience preparing university students for a range of golf management careers. He earned his MBA from Methodist University in 2014, is a Certified PGA Professional in Golf Operations, and a Class A member of the PGA. He has previously served as an assistant golf professional at Carolina Trace Country Club and head golf professional at King’s Grant Golf and Country Club before returning to Methodist University in 2011.
The university’s Provost, Suzanne Blum Malley, expressed her excitement about White’s appointment, citing his experience as a PGA professional and his passion for the university and its students. White also expressed his p assi on for golf and for seeing the students grow into successful golf professionals.
The PGM program at Methodist University is renowned for having the largest PGA staff in the country, with seven PGA prof essionals providing students with unlimited golf instruction, a variety of teaching methodologies, and real-world application. The program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Accounting, or Financial Economics with a concentration in PGA Golf Management.
Students of the program are also given the benefit of an on-campus 18-hole golf course, known as “Downback,” which is exclusively for their use. The course features a practice facility with a short game area, putting green, bunkers, and 30 hitting stations. The PGM program also requires students to successfully complete the PGA Playing Ability Test (PAT) and levels 1, 2, and 3 of the PGA curriculum, and 16 months of internships while attending Methodist University.
The university is also nationally recognized for its NCAA championship-winning golf teams, with over 40 golf team championships to its name and more than 100 All-American golfers. The 2023 NCAA DIII Tournaments are just around the corner, and the university is looking forward to another successful year.
