Fayetteville, NC – The girls’ soccer team at John Griffin Middle School is basking in the glory of an extraordinary season, defined by exceptional performances and notable accomplishments. Led by Head Coach Michele Harling, the team’s unwavering dedication, hard work, and formidable defensive skills have propelled them to remarkable success on the field.

Coach Harling, who had the privilege of coaching the JGMS soccer teams, expressed immense pride in the girls’ achievements. “I am incredibly proud of the girls’ exceptional season. They have shown remarkable growth, teamwork, an d tenacity,” shared Harling.

Throughout their journey, the team’s impressive defensive record has been a defining factor. FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The Fayetteville Woodpeckers have announced a new initiative, the Woodpeckers Sports Fund, in collaboration with Cumberland County Schools to provide financial support for high school athletes in the local community. The fund aims to help students in the Cumberland County School District participating in fall and spring sports with a focus on fostering compassion and understanding for young athletes and the less fortunate.

Generously backed by the Fayetteville Woodpeckers’ Community Leaders Program, the Woodpeckers Sports Fund will allocate a total of $10,000 per school year to assist high school athletes in need of financial aid for sports fees, uniforms, or other related expenses. Applicati ons for assistance will be open later this summer for the fall semester and late fall for the spring semester.

The Woodpeckers Sports Fund made its debut on Friday, May 5, during the Second Annual Jackie Robinson Showcase, an event that brought together six local Title I high school baseball teams at Segra Stadium. The Woodpeckers and the Community Leaders Program partners are committed to supporting young athletes by providing the necessary resources for their phy sical and mental growth, ultimately helping them become future community leaders.

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Cool Spring Downtown District is hosting a special Mother’s Day Carriage Rides event on May 13th from 1 pm to 9 pm, offering a unique experience for families and groups to celebrate the occasion.

SCENIC CARRIAGE RIDES

Participants can take a scenic 15-17 minute ride th rough the district on a beautiful Queen Victoria Carriage, departing from Cool Spring Downtown District’s office located at 222 Hay Street. Private carriage rides will be available at 20-minute intervals throughout the day, providing ample opportunities for families and groups to participate.

TICKETS AND PRICING

Tickets for the private carriage rides will be sold for a flat fee of $75 per ride, with one ticket purchase covering a group of 2-6 people. Participants are recommended to limit the carriage ride to one family per ride. On average, the carriage can accommodate four adults and two children, making it an ideal family activity. Tickets can be purchased online in advance.
