Methodist University Unveils Dr. Frank P. Stout Physician Assistant Complex

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – In a special ceremony held on June 8, 2023, Methodist University officially renamed two of its prominent buildings in recognition of the late Dr. Frank P. Stout. The campus area that includes the University’s Physician Assistant Academic Building and Medical Lecture Hall will now be known as the Dr. Frank P. Stout Physician Assistant Complex. The renaming follows a generous $1.5-million gift from the Stout family in honor of Dr. Stout, who passed away in 2021.

Methodist University President Stanley T. Wearden expressed his appreciation for the Stout family’s contribution during the ceremony, which was attended by Dr. Stout’s wife, Carol, his son Cam, daughter-in-law Kelly, and grandchildren Craver and Cameron. President Wearden acknowledged Dr. Stout’s longstanding friendship and support for the university and praised the family’s generosity in establishing the new complex in his memory.

Dr. Frank P. Stout, a lifelong resident of Fayetteville, made significant contributions to the community through his orthodontic practice and involvement in real estate development. He was recognized as Methodist University’s Businessman of the Year in 2007 and served on the university’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Stout’s commitment to the health and well-being of the community and his passion for Methodist University inspired the decision to name the Physician Assistant Complex after him.

The Dr. Frank P. Stout Physician Assistant Complex consists of the Physician Assistant Academic Building, which includes classrooms, simulation exam rooms, a student lounge, and faculty/administrative offices, and the Medical Lecture Hall, featuring a lecture hall and breakout rooms. Both buildings are located on the southernmost edge of Methodist University’s campus along Ramsey Street, near the Joe W. Stout Hall, named after Dr. Stout’s father, which was constructed in 1996 with a previous gift from the Stout family.

The Stout family’s recent contribution will have a significant impact on the Methodist University campus, highlighting the success of the Physician Assistant Studies program. Established in 1996, the program has produced over 500 graduates, with more than half entering primary care medicine. It offers small class sizes, strong support from the medical community, and a competitive Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE) pass rate.

Methodist University’s commitment to honoring the legacy of Dr. Frank P. Stout reflects the institution’s dedication to academic excellence and its deep appreciation for the contributions of individuals who have shaped its history. The renaming of the buildings stands as a lasting tribute to Dr. Stout’s significant impact on both the university and the Fayetteville community.

FORT BRAGG, NC – In a poignant tribute to the brave men and women who have served in America’s wars, Lt. Gen. Chris Donahue, XVIII Airborne Corps Commanding General, took the helm as the Veteran of the Day on June 1, 2023. Leading the Sunset L iberty March (SLM), Lt. Gen. Donahue guided participants along a 0.6-mile path, paying homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation’s freedom.

The Sunset Libe rty March, a solemn event that occurs 365 days a year, allows anyone to join in honoring veterans past and present. Commencing at sunset near the intersection of Honeycutt Road and Liberty Trail (formerly Bragg Blvd.), the march concludes near the intersection of Butner Road and R. Miller Street (formerly Randolph St.), where a Liberty Marcher salutes the flag, symbolizing respect and remembrance.

The SLM holds great significance as it serves as a constant reminder of the valor and dedication exhibited by our troops throughout history. It is a time for reflection and gratitude, acknowledging the immense sacrifices made by those who have protected the nation’s freedom.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – In an atmosphere of unity and celebration, thousands converged on Festival Park yesterday for the 10th anniversary AsONE Prayer Walk, an annual ecumenical gathering hosted by AsONE Fellowship, Inc. The event was capped off by a stirring performance by gospel artist Todd Galberth.

In a demonstration of unity and shared faith, participants of diverse ages, ethnicities, religious denominations, and backgrounds gathered together on Saturday, May 20, 2023. They convened with a shared purpose—to unite in prayer as a single body and proclaim the greatness of their God.Gates opened bright and early at 8 a.m., with the Prayer Walk beginning at 10 a.m.

Attendees walked through downtown Fayetteville, making stops at designated prayer stations, including the Police Department, City Hall, the Cumberland County Courthouse, and the North Carolina Veterans Park. Each stop served as a symbolic location where prayers for the community, peace, and unity were lifted.

After the walk, the gates reopened at 4 p.m. for the evening’s concert, which began at 5 p.m. This year, attendees were treated to an inspiring performance by renowned gospel artist Todd Galberth. His performance was a high note of the event, delivering uplifting music that resonated with the day’s themes of unity and community.

The AsONE Prayer Walk is part of the broader AsONE10 UnityWeek, which included several exciting events this year. Among them were the Pulpit Swap, Pay It Forward/Community Unity Days, the Pastors’ Ball, and UnityFest. UnityFest is a premier music festival, also organized by AsONE Fellowship, Inc., which took place on Sunday, April 23, 2023.Featuring some of the best gospel and Christian music artists in the nation, including the likes of Maverick City Music’s Chandler Moore and Todd Galberth, UnityFest served as a prelude to the Prayer Walk. It celebrated a decade of community unity t hrough prayer, reinforcing the commitment of AsONE Fellowship, Inc. to bring people of different backgrounds and beliefs together.

Looking back at yesterday’s e vent and the successful culmination of AsONE10 UnityWeek, there is no doubt that the AsONE Prayer Walk has grown into a significant event in Fayetteville.
