New Medical School Created by Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Hospital
Fayetteville, N.C. — Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Hospital have announced the creation of a new medical school in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The Methodist University medical school will be located in a new facility at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and will open its doors in July 2026.
The partnership and new medical school have a mission to provide better medical care for rural and underserved populations and diversify the MD workforce in the Fayetteville/Cumberland County region.
The joint press conference, which will feature Methodist University President Stanley T. Wearden and Cape Fear Valley Health CEO Mike Nagowski, will provide additional details about the new medical school. The event will take place on Monday, February 27 at 3 p.m. in the McLean Health Sciences Building on the Methodist University campus.
