Social Media Videos of Hurricane Irene in North Carolina

Hurricane Irene struck Fayetteville, NC on Friday and Saturday with minimal damage.  Stop reading to take a breather, exhale, and smile at that info alone. Heavy wind gusts and power outages were reported, yet the worse of the storm has passed.  Cape Fear has once again held ground by slightly nudging the storm eastward.  Television stations are steadilywarning the entire east coast to embrace for Hurricane Irene.  Have you seen the 3D animations of NYC flooding? Or viewed abandoned resorts near Ocean City, MD or Atlantic City?  Whoa.

It’s path stretches from the Carolinas to New England, with many Mayors ordering evacuation of coastal cities.  The impact has been far from anticipated, but the size of Hurricane Irene seems to amaze even top meteorologists.  The view of over 500miles diameter of Irene could be seen from space as Astronauts discuss and record the event (see last video of this page).

Locally, FayToday delivered weather info and updates on facebook, late Friday night and early Saturday.  Many experienced power outages and heavy winds throughout the early morning of Saturday.  The power of real-time messages and our network of over 3,800 local friends gave us quick insight on what to expect.  If you’re already a friend and fan of FayToday, we appreciate your support and helping the community stay informed.  If you’re new, then we invite you to our facebook fanpage.
