Fayetteville at All America City Awards Ceremony on June 17 2011

Fayetteville, NC was among the finalist in the All-America Stories video contest and won! The facebook entry with the most “likes” on the Facebook page wins. Many citizens and fans of Fayetteville have spiritedly voted on the video to bring our city in the finals.    This event was sponsored by the  National Civic League.   The awards ceremony was streamed live online. On June 18, a celebration of the All-America City Awards will be hosted in Kansas City, Missouri.

Representatives of our community, such as: military, Fayetteville Police department, and including Mayor Tony Chavonne were in attendance for the June 17 online ceremony. Other supporters gathered online to watch the event. FayToday posted the live video on our facebook wall to view within facebook.   FayToday noticed the trailing votes or Likes on the nightbefore against our competition was Torrrance, CA. Torrance had 25 votes early Thursday and by late night, 80 more votes than Fayettevillle.

All America City Video Contest Winner goes to Fayetteville NC

The voting period lasted til 1pm. From that time I visited the All America City fanpage to see if Fayetteville had a chance. We surpassed the 80 vote deficit to push away to nearly 200 votes. Fayetteville won! I am sure with or without this contest, Fayetteville N.C. is the All America City. From the economic development downtown, festival park, dogwood festival, military chorus, i-295 construction, tornado recovery …I could not overlook the resilience of our community. The video produced by two creative woman (I will post name soon, sorry). It captured the Fayettenam era and the growth that has made us this artsy and entertaining city. I call it the biggest smalltown around! It is not like the metros or big city culture, but includes a traditional hometown feel. The military reminds us how strong we are and the booming retail or small businesses show how passionate we are about commerce. Fayetteville is like no other city and I love it here.

The city has accepted the award at the ceremony which took place around 8pm. UStream.tv broadcasted the awards ceremony which lasted 2 hours. To view this awards ceremony, watch below or click here. It captures some of the greatest people striving to make communities flourish, safe, and a proud place to live.

THE WINNING VIDEO

“From FayetteNAM to FayetteNOW”

Did you vote? FayToday did! Hear our story:

FayToday teamed up with our social media marketing sponsor, Elucid Marketing to gain votes. They convinced us that with analytical thought, anything is possible. We spent the wee hours of the night sending emails, tweets, facebook posts, and online chats to get voters to support the cause. Elucid Marketing contacted their social media clients while I spent time in every digital rolodex to find help. After 2 hours, we saw the count close to within 19 votes, knowing everyone hasn’t read our message. For next 2 hours, we probably reached thousands of web users with a plea to “LIKE” Fayetteville’s video on the All America City’s fanpage. We scheduled tweets on each hour to appear in the “twitterverse” from everyone willing to support us. At 6am as the sun rose, we decided to quit and get some sleep (felt like Christmas Eve). Personally, I woke up around noon to see the votes were nearly 200 votes ahead. I think the power of social media and networking is amazing! Marketing in this technology era is exactly as our friends Elucid Marketing said. We were ready to give up and out of solutions, yet there was always a live audience online, somewhere! [like url=http://faytoday.com/2011/fayetteville-nc-wins-all-america-city-video-contest/ action=like]
