FAYETTEVILLE, NC — Award-winning actress and director Phylicia Rashad is scheduled to appear in Fayetteville for a special evening hosted by Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity. The event, titled “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” will take place March 26, 2026, at Cape Fear Botanical Garden.

Rashad has inspired generations through her work in television, film, and theater. She is widely recognized for her role as Clair Huxtable on The Cosby Show, a character that became one of television’s most respected portrayals of a strong, intelligent, and compassionate mother. Her career continued to evolve through acclaimed stage performances, including her Tony Award-winning role in A Raisin in the Sun, as well as appearances in the Creed film series, where she brought depth and presence to a new generation of moviegoers.
Her visit to Fayetteville centers on a cause that resonates deeply within communities across the country — safe and affordable housing.
The “Home Is Where the Heart Is” event will be a semi-formal dinner designed to raise awareness and financial support for Habitat’s mission in the Fayetteville area. Proceeds from the evening will directly support the construction of new homes, critical home repairs, and youth workforce development programs such as Habitat’s Construction Camp.
Fayetteville Area Habitat for Humanity works year-round to strengthen neighborhoods through monetary donations, building materials, and volunteer labor. The organization partners with local families to build newly constructed homes, complete essential repairs for homeowners in need, and equip young people with practical skills in construction and home maintenance. These efforts aim not only to provide shelter but also to create long-term stability and opportunity.
Rashad’s presence brings added meaning to the evening. Her legacy of storytelling around family, perseverance, and dignity aligns closely with Habitat’s mission of creating homes that serve as foundations for growth and generational progress. Organizers describe the event as an opportunity to blend inspiration and purpose in one memorable community gathering.
The event will be held at Cape Fear Botanical Garden, located at 536 North Eastern Boulevard in Fayetteville. Tickets go on sale today, starting at $125, with limited seating available. Sponsorship opportunities are also open for businesses and community leaders interested in supporting affordable housing initiatives in the region.
