SPRING LAKE, NC — A colorful new addition now welcomes visitors to Mendoza Park, as the Town of Spring Lake prepares to unveil a stunning 50-foot mural celebrating North Carolina’s natural beauty and local pride. The public is invited to attend the official Mural Dedication Ceremony on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11:00 AM, following the town’s community clean-up event.

Located at 1774 Little River Road, the vibrant mural spans an entire park wall and showcases the state’s natural wonders through detailed artwork by muralist Dim Borisov. The design includes North Carolina’s state symbols and scenic imagery — from butterflies and honeybees to the iconic dogwood blossom and a colorful map of the state. The mural also captures a local touch, featuring a painted view of Poe Avenue leading toward Spring Lake’s recognizable water tower.
Hosted by the Town of Spring Lake Appearance and Sustainability Committee, the event is open to the public and promises to be a family-friendly celebration of art, community, and revitalization. Guests are encouraged to explore the recently renovated park, which includes updated play areas and green spaces for families to enjoy.
Artist Dim Borisov, known for his intricate outdoor murals and vivid storytelling through color and movement, spent nearly a month bringing the piece to life through daily work and collaboration with the town. His art often reflects themes of connection between nature and community, making the Mendoza Park project a perfect fit for Spring Lake’s growing focus on beautification and sustainability.
Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to attend the unveiling, meet the artist, and take part in a day of local pride and creativity.
