Fayetteville State University Breaks Enrollment Records with Over 7,600 Students

FAYETTEVILLE, NC — Fayetteville State University has reached a historic milestone, setting a new all-time enrollment record with 7,628 students for the Fall 2025 semester. The number marks an increase of more than 500 students compared to last year and includes one of the university’s largest freshman classes since 2007.

This year’s incoming class of 820 first-year students enters with an average GPA of 3.32, reflecting FSU’s continued focus on academic excellence. The university also reports one of its highest-ever retention rates at 78 percent — a 15 percent improvement since 2021.

Much of the growth is driven by strong programs in Business, Nursing, and Forensic Science, alongside rising interest in newer degree paths such as Cybersecurity, Supply Chain Management, and Construction Project Management. These programs align closely with workforce needs in both North Carolina and across the nation.

Military-affiliated enrollment continues to be a defining strength for the university. More than 2,500 military-connected students — the highest number in FSU’s history — are currently enrolled, highlighting the institution’s commitment to serving those who serve the country. The university also welcomed over 1,100 transfer and adult learners, further expanding access to education across the region.

For the city of Fayetteville, FSU’s record-breaking growth represents not only academic achievement but also economic and community advancement. More students mean more opportunities, more graduates entering the workforce, and a stronger future for the region.

Fayetteville State University’s continued rise stands as a point of pride for alumni, students, and the broader community — a clear reminder that once a Bronco, always a Bronco.
