Cape Fear Regional Theatre to Break Ground on $23M Expansion April 7

Fayetteville, NC – A new chapter in Fayetteville’s arts and culture scene is about to begin. Cape Fear Regional Theatre (CFRT) will officially break ground on a transformative $23 million expansion on Monday, April 7, 2025, at 12:00 PM, at its home on 1209 Hay Street.

The ceremony—appropriately titled “ACT 2: Expand & Elevate”—invites the community to witness the start of a bold new era for one of Fayetteville’s most cherished cultural institutions.

What’s Coming in the Expansion?

CFRT’s long-anticipated renovation will reimagine the theater experience, combining modern design with increased accessibility and capacity to serve a growing audience.

  • New Grand Lobby: A spacious, elegant entryway designed to host community gatherings, pre-show receptions, and pr ivate events.
  • Rooftop Experience: A rooftop stage featuring live music, craft cocktails, and stunning views—adding a new dimension to the theatergoing experience.
  • Education & Outreach Spaces: Dedicated classrooms and studios to expand CFRT’s robust youth programming, workshops, and community engagement.
  • Expanded Staff & Artist Facilities: Improved creative workspaces for performers, directors, and production teams.
