The first Juneteenth festival was held on June 15th at Fayetteville, NC’s Festival park. The day started with the Juneteenth Freedom Breakfast, followed by a Freedom Parade, and finishing the day with Juneteenth in the Park. The event included guest speakers, various park entertainment, 50+ vendors, and ended with a fireworks display.

The Juneteenth Freedom Festival was started to share the history of slavery and to memorialize its ending. The major intent of the festival is to honor the sacrifice of our ancestors, and share the cultural heritage of slaves and their descendants through entertainment, art, education, and developing a sense of community.
