Trayvon Martin Rally held in Fayetteville, NC
Soul 104.5 fm hosted the Justice for Trayvon Martin rally in Fayetteville, NC. The event included speakers of the community, local businesses, and religious leaders who delivered messages of unity to the crowd. A couple hundred people attended the event at Seabrook Park near FSU and Murchison Road. A mixture of ages was noticeable as elderly and youth gathered for a moment of reflection on Trayvon Martin. The crowd became aware of local issues and showed concern for the direction of the community.
Presenters of the event allowed residents to speak as well. Accounts of similar cases or community issues were heart-touching and seen on faces of many in attendance. Each speaker had different messages, including education as key in development, being good parents in supporting a youth’s foundation, and even economic goals of shopping locally rather than corporate business in town. The event was enlightening and appears to leave many with encouraging words and more active spirits within their community.
