Fayetteville NC Halloween

Safety for Trick or Treat in Fayetteville, N.C.

  1. Know your area. You can find maps of local communities, such as Google or Bing.com.  Print them, if needed.  You can also plan a route or have a time frame, before walking in any community.  Want to know some Halloween participating communities to venture? Check our facebook suggestions from local residents on our facebook poll, (click here).
  2. Know the participating homes. We may not know every house in our neighborhood, so be aware of unfamiliar places.  Most homes that participate in passing out candy will have their front porch light on.  We recommend going to homes where trick-or-treat’ers are leaving.  Believe it or not, some homes forget its Halloween and leave the porch light on, year round.   Don’t trust back porch lights only or homes that are dim.  Try going with the flow, you may even meet a friendly parent or neighbor.
  3. Wear bright materials. With heavy traffic flow, make sure your costume is not too dark or not noticeable by drivers, if you are making them yourself you can add personalized clothing labels to make them perfect and unique.  We suggest light colored clothing, reflector material, or even lglow in the dark items.  These can be found at your local Dollar Tree or Walmart!  Hope you got your Halloween bag or pumpkin to get all the candies! 🙂
  4. Parental Guidance. Halloween is a fun holiday, but sometimes a scary event.  We recommend accompanying your child for Trick or Treat.  Have a designated parent or make it an event that may include your friends, family and neighbors.   Walk together and be the extra eyes for the group for a high level of safety.   Don’t forget to check your treats before eating.
