Kids Learn to Braid: GloCity Events Empowers Youth with Summer Braiding & Business Camp

Fayetteville, NC — A creative and empowering opportunity is coming to young residents of Fayetteville this summer through Kids Learn to Braid, a unique camp hosted by GloCity Events. The program is designed for youth ages 7 to 17 and combines hands-on braiding instruction with foundational business knowledge.

The camp aims to equip students with both creative and professional skills they can carry into the future. Sessions will be held throughout June and July, running from 10:00

AM to 2:00 PM each day. Lunch will be provided, and both beginner and advanced level classes are available.

One of the highlights of this year’s program is a scholarship opportunity for youth impacted by parental substance abuse. Five full scholarships will be awarded, covering the entire cost of the camp. These scholarships are made possible through partnerships with Global Outreach TeleRehabilitation Inc and the Mid-Carolina Regional Council.

Students will learn how to braid, maintain healthy hair, use tools and products, and conduct themselves with professional etiquette. Additionally, they’ll receive training on how to start a business. Each participant will receive a mannequin head, full braiding kit, training binder, and a certificate of completion.

Tuition for the camp is $250, with a $100 deposit due one week before the start of the session. The remaining balance is due on the first day of camp. Those who wish to apply for the scholarship must be the caregiver of a child under 21 who has lost a parent to substance abuse or has a parent currently struggling with addiction. Attendance for all three days of camp is mandatory, and caregivers of scholarship recipients are required to attend a group session on the final day that addresses peer pressure and entrepreneurship etiquette.

This camp is especially beneficial for youth learning to care for their own hair or those interested in exploring the beauty and braiding industry as a career path.

Registration is now open and can be accessed online. Questions may be directed to glocitynow@gmail.com. Organizers encourage early registration due to limited space in each session.
