Another 7-Eleven Could Be Coming to North Fayetteville Near College Lakes

iew a rezoning request this month that would allow a modern gas station and convenience store to be built on the 2-acre property.

The proposed site is positioned across from the North Regional Library and sits diagonally from the Circle K that was rebuilt about six years ago near College Lakes Plaza. If approved, it would join a growing number of 7-Eleven locations in Fayetteville, including a store recently built on Ramsey Street just a few miles away. Another location is also planned

near Rosehill Road and Country Club Drive.

The McArthur Road and Stacy Weaver Drive intersection already sees significant traffic, intensified by the nearby I-295 Outer Loop exit. City planners have noted that the project aligns with Fayetteville’s Future Land Use plan for moderate-intensity commercial development. The rezoning request is being considered as “conditional,” which would require the developer to include a landscaped buffer and fencing as part of the design.

While some nearby residents have expressed concerns about increased traffic, environmental effects, and safety issues, others point to the potential for new jobs and expanded retail options as benefits of the project. The proposal reflects a broader trend of gas station growth across Cumberland County, sparking debate about whether the additions bring needed convenience or further saturate the market.
